Brocante (2): a 1920's dress

At Saturday's "brocante", I found this amazing dress dating back to the 1920's - my favorite era for fashion, with its sleek designs made for movement and clean lines. Despite its age, the dress is in good condition, requiring only a few stitches.

It's made of black silk, with simple short tulle sleeves.
The bias cut, so typical of the Twenties, allows it to move gracefully around the body, and its detailing is exquisite - witness the V that the seams around around the left hip (see picture).

And it only cost €30 ($45)!

Such a treasure! Congrats on this fantastic find.

PS,(You're right, gingham is very Bardot. If you look closely, you'll see a small pic of her in the collage I did.)

Pia - I was pretty sure it would fit, but I still slipped it over my t-shirt and jeans (I had chosen an outfit that would make it easy for me to try on clothes!!).
Next time you're in Paris and you have a little time, we must go to a brocante together - or at least meet up over a cup of tea!

Anonymous - hmmm, I am indeed thinking of 2 special occasions to wear this dress to, both in May: one is my birthday and the other one a red carpet festival - more on this another time.
(Jen, is that you???)

Marie & Laura - you're right, it is a timeless design that will always look good.

Thank you ALL for your sweet comments!

Oh!!!! This dress looks so lovely I would love to gnaw on it!
I am not very much into fashion myself. My hairstyle remains the same from season to season with one small difference which is the thickness of my fur.

Hi :)

that dress is absolutely amazing!and just like you, I also like the 1920's a lot :)

you asked me about the chanel black satin, if I find it diff to remove. To be honest no I dont! Well of course it not so easy like removing a lighter colour, but it is ok! I find red ones much more diff!

On n'invente plus rien.
Yamamoto l'a bien compris.
Et puis ton Chic , c'est surtout :
1-De rentrer dedans comme si elle avait était faite pour toi
2-De trouver une robe sublime a un prix si raisonnable.
