Mantegna at the Louvre
The Louvre's major Mantegna exhibition opens today. I adore the colors and the soft, dream-like qualities of this Italian Renaissance painter (15th c.)'s works, and love how the show's huge poster contrasts with the Louvre's severe stone facade...
I couldn't even imagine having the Louvre in my backyard. How lucky to be you :) My heart is sinking as I count the years it's been...18! FAR too long!
Gee, I envy you, you are sooo blessed to be in a city of wonderful delights. Hmmm, the Louvre, I can only dream of it but you know what they say, dreams come true!
When we were in Paris in July- and visited the Louvre one day, the crowds of people from all over the world amazed me. I can only think of how many visitors shall flock to see these Italian Renaissance works. Bucolic works shown in the city of Light!
Have a fabulous Mantegna, I am so envious. When I was in Paris, ever so long ago, I spent days and days at the Louvre. Yes, I do you the French eat rabbits, but their not going to get ahold of my rabbits ( they are too quick for one thing) !! :~)
I wish I could be there! I just got myself the cutest little comic book by Andy Watson called "Paris", about a couple of young art lovers who falls in love in 1950's Paris. Sooo pretty, sooo cute.
well you do know that next week, i'll be steps away from the Louvre...60 rue de richelieu oct 1-5th---i hope you can come--would so love to meet you in person!
JAIMEE - yes, FAR too long, you wouldn't recognize the Louvre after the extensive renovations it went through!
A WORLD... - when do you want to go?
PVE DESIGN - the "crowds" indeed; that's the problem with the Louvre really, it's so packed and the line to get in is sooooooooo long...
LITTLEBIRD - oh I am sorry to hear you lost your pet. They are the best companions, dogs, so loving and loyal and true. Irreplaceable. I don't know what would become of me without Benjy.
MOMO - asi es la magia de los blogs, no?
BONBON - we MUST get together when you're in town. Email me (See My Profile for my email address)!
when i read and look at your blog, i wish i lcould decide to go tomorrow for example, to an exhibition like this, the best thing of living in a big city...i really want to move!
