Little Kids' Stuff

I just adore children - and I loved being a child. There's something about little kids' stuff that just makes me oooooh and aaaaaaaah - case in point, these toddler flip flops, spotted on the beach, as well as this adorable and colorful furniture, perfect for a little one's bedroom or for a garden filled with children.

Speaking of children's furniture, I wanted to share an idea I had: I saw an old child's bed, with a beautiful yet simple metal frame, in a store and thought it would make a perfect little sofa for a tiny studio such as mine. It was pretty expensive so I didn't buy it, but I'll keep the idea in a corner of my mind...

Love small fry things! The little bed sounds perfect for your studio.
Can you treat yourself? Love to do that every now and then.

ah yes, little kids stuff is so great, I have a 3 year old, and I am somethings more into the cute things I buy for him, then he is! (or maybe that-s because he is a boy...)
great post, very cheerful :-)

I love your child's bed into couch idea, please do share if you end up doing it! Also love those little chairs... it's funny to read this post on children since right now, while out to lunch, I saw the cutest little baby girl in her stroller with a giant hot pink plush poodle toy. Adorable. One day I hope!xo

DEBRA - I do treat myself sometimes, but the problem with that bed is that it's overpriced - when I treat myself, the price has to be right, even if it's high!
Anyhow, I now bought a nice armchair for my place. You'll see pics in the days to come...

SOLANGE - I'd so love to see pics of your little one some time!

GABBI - that little girl you saw sounds adorable. I find that children just brighten my day. And they don't even know it.

Loved the pic of the bread on a plate -- made me immediately think of the millions of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I ate as a kid.

Looks like a perfect, child-sized day!

Your bed-to-couch idea is fab! Let us know if it happens!

AMUSE ME - this picture was taken in France, where that little boy has bread and butter every morning. He loves it when I spread the butter for him!

I think your idea of using an old child's bed as a small sofa is great. You could find a new cushion or have one made to measure out of a personal textile. Just make sure that it is sturdy enough to bare the weight of an adult.

On a similar note, I am looking for an old daybed for my VERY small space. Will make a cushion from those heavy and ancient white linens we find in french antique markets.

I love things even smaller than those - dollhouse furniture fascinates me. Wonder if it's too late in my life to buy one and play? ;)

The metal frame bed as a sofa sounds good. Baby shoes are always so pretty and cute.

Kids hate me and I'm not particularly fond of them but they get lots of good stuff like amazing wellies and furniture.. They should definately always make an adults version too. The bed idea is great! :) x

J ELAINE - a daybed for your room in addition to the bed you already have? Or instead of it?
I love old linen, it's so heavy and special.

BETH - dollhouses are indeed fascinating. I saw some AMAZING ancient ones at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Dolls and dollhouses are an art, I think.

FROCK - I know, sometimes I too am jealous of the stuff little kids get, because it's so unbelievably pretty!

Thanks for information about the movie about Frame. It certainly sounds very interesting. I will try to get a DVD. I don't watch a lot of movies, but the occasional good ones, I try to watch.

If you follow NZ news, our greatest court case just finished with young David Bain found not guilty of murdering his 5 members of the family 13 years ago when he was 22. I am sure this will be made into a movie.

SAVVY MODE - I'm eager to have my own nieces/nephews to spoil.

ROXANA - I hope we can all keep our childhood alive in our souls.

ANN - you'll have to share your impressions with me once you've seen the movie.
I'd love to visit NZ some day.

NANCY - this little boy likes nothing but "la baguette" with "beaucoup de beurre" for his breakfast, and I often prepapre his "tartines" for him in the morning. Such a joy for me, and a treat for him!
