AMS - it's a dahlia. They're summer flowers so these are the first of the season!

although i must admit i always think of it is more of a late summer/early fall thing to eat...

NANCY - yes I think of corn as a late summer thing too, so I was surprised to see it at the market!

CHARLOTTE - I bought it for $2 at a yard sale...

Dahlias were one of my grandmother's favorite flowers. She had them in all sizes and colors. THese are beautiful.
I bought a paiting from Fifi flowers with a dahlia, actually you had taken the picture of the dahlia and she mad eit into a painting.

WORLD IN A PAN - ah yes, I remember that pic and Fifi's wonderful work!

ROXANA - I looked them up and it said the season was June-October, so I guess they're astride on 2 seasons.

ABIGAIL - based on the comments here, I have the impression that we got the very first corn of the season here!
