Yet More From My New Place

In my last post about my new Venice, CA studio, I promised I would show you more very soon, and here it is.
In this little blue nook, I placed a fun mannequin which wears my hats piled up, and keeps my shawl and favorite necklace handy. Next to it is a bookshelf that conveniently folds up - I really needed some space for the many books I have been reading since I moved to California 7 months ago. (In case you're wondering, yes, I did read them all). The red ottoman goes with the chair I featured in my last home post, and which many of you took to calling Benjy's chair...

That is a wonderful new apartment, looks like it has some nice storage. How is Mr. Benjy like the new home?

ANNIE - yes, it has too much storage for a minimalist like me, way too much.
El señor Benjy is crazy about the new place, especially because it has a wonderful garden view and because several of my neighbors have dogs he has become friends with...

I see elements of you here - delicacy, flowers, books, sentimentality, and some minimalism. You are beautiful and it seems you have built a peaceful new home. Or, is it El señor Benjy's? I'll bet he likes napping on those large tiles on warm CA days.

A folding bookshelf?! That really appeals to me. (Guess anything to do with books does…)
Love the mannequin!

BETH - yes, it's quite convenient, especially for transportation.

MISS CAVENDISH - that could be my motto.

Your new place looks lovely, I really like the way you painted the nook blue, gives such a nice contrast. Also, all those cabinets must be incredibly convenient!

Mary-Laure said...

BITTERBETTY - yes! yes! yes! Do drop me line next time you're in LA, I'd love to meet the Bitterest of us all!

GABBI - actually, the owner of the place had instructed the painters to paint over the blue, so that the entire room would be the same color but I said, Stop! I like the contrast.

Where did you get the fabulous mannequin? I want one...

Mary-Laure said...

SPANGLER - you're not going to believe this but I got it FOR FREE from the woman who sold me the huge mirror. She was just giving it away because she had a new one... Isn't it unbelievable?
