You asked for more, so here is some more! I took these pictures at the Getty Villa.
These pieces fulfilled me, as someone who loves typography, animals and is fascinated with grace and the human body. The shepherd feeds his dog with his hand, isn't that a wonderful incarnation of our long lasting friendship with those creatures?

a beautiful text. the top image looks almost singed into something luminous.
Yet anoter set of great pictures of sculptures!
beautiful! so graceful!
Breathtaking.
PIERRE - ou d'un animal!
MANSUETUDE - exactly, it's odd and moving that so much light should radiate from such ancient a piece...
You put emotions in writing so well!
Wonderful post. This notable collection of reasures is incredible. The Greek inscription of the stone -for me who I can read it- is amazing!
Phivos, can you tell us about the greek inscription on the stone?
Mary-Laure. The ancient greek greek inscription on the stone is obviously an epigraphy dedicated to... I can read only 3-4 words. Mind you that the originaal ancient greek writing didn't have spaces between the words! That was changed latter. If you have the whole picture I can translate it for you. Best regards.
