From The Brocante

I went to a brocante today in nearby Tonneins and brought back a couple of wonderful items... First of all, for a mere €10 (US$15), I chose an old camera with a Carl Zeiss lens (the best!), that I was told still worked - as long as I find the necessary film, and also an ancient linen nightgown (€5, or US$7.50), with my initial, M, embroidered in red. I washed the nightgown and left it to dry under Southwestern France's hot sun to make it whiter and am eager to wear it to bed tonight.

What fanastic finds! That sounds like a dream brocante.

Even if that camera doesn't work, it's sure a cool looking thing.

I think you will have old dreams from another soul wearing that M to bed. :)

RAINING SHEEP and NANCY - yes, I also think it would be a great object to display, very retro. I love old typewriters and such items that are both beautifully engineered and stylish in their own retro way.

MARIE - maybe I should have gotten a nightgown for you too. I'll buy you one if I see one with an M before I leave.

MANSUETUDE - wow, I hadn't thought of the M-girl who slept in it before me. I hope her dreams won't haunt my nights!

Vintage nightwear is so delicious! It's probably so sweet and fresh from hanging outside on the line.

Lovely finds! I love monogrammed items- vintage especially.
I so enjoy that it was properly washed and sun dried to start it's life with the new 'M'.
