Very High Marni Heels

Hmmmmm, what's in this pretty and precious box?

Well, it happened. I went back to the Barneys Warehouse Sale, as the prices were slashed on the last day, and I got my hands on a pair of crazy, towering lilac-grey Marni Mary-Janes; when I moved to California, I didn't bring a single pair of heels with me, and on several dressy occasions I have found myself sorry I hadn't. This pair was marked down from $435 to $101. But that's not even the best part - what makes me really happy is that they're not made of leather, except for their wide strap, which makes them my first animal-friendly, (almost) veggie shoes.
As you know, animals' rights are one of my main centers of interest but when it comes to footwear, my commitment to steer clear of leather shoes had so far been frustrated by poor offerings - from unaffordable pairs by militant vegan Stella McCartney to clunky post-hippie sensible shoes as sexy as a slab of raw tofu. So for the first time I could indulge, yield to my love of beautiful footwear without feeling guilty towards the animals. Ah, the bliss!

Wonderful, but I wouldn´t be able to use them - I would fall down in the first moment :-)

They are stunning, but I could never, in a million years, actually walk in them - too high for me. I envy people who can walk in heels. And yes, I do realise the complete and utter paradox of not being able to walk in heels, but regularly being on pointe shoes in ballet class :)

great find, sounds like they were meant for you! I agree with some of the others, I would be clunking around in them trying my best to be a chic chica! Still I would sport them, in the name of fashion!

Wow, what are those like to walk in? sort one degree down from being en pointe. But I see how you could not resist.....

wow, I am glad you got such a good deal! Can you walk well in them? I am sure they look lovely, and yes, it's hard to find nice shoes not made of leather....

J'aime la photo de la boite et ses lignes de perspective qui convergent vers des points de fuite en dehors du cadre.

Lovely. I especially appreciate the buckle, which has substance yet delicacy.

bFLAT - the picture makes them look more grey than they are; they really have a mauve undertone.

HILA, ANDREA and SOLANGE - I'm more comfortable in flats but if a shoe is well structured and well made, high heels are actually just fine.
I had written a post about how to recognize a well structured heel some time ago, BTW...

SEALAURA - me encanta la expresion "chic chica".

TRAVELER'S SOUL - c'est toi qui m'as appris pas mal de choses sur la photo, meme si j'etais deja obsedee par les questions de cadrage...

MISS CAVENDISH - you put it so well! Yes, I like the boldness of the strap. I hate anything that's too ladylike or girly.

MMMMh these make my mouth water... Those shoes look delicious! I am very fond of the high heel, it gives me more to gnaw at.

Congrats on your find! Looks hard to walk in though, but for a dancer I suppose thats not a question...

Are you dancing professionally?

TAOCITO - keep your little fangs off my Marni!

NJUT... - unfortunately, I was never remotely talented to dance professionally, so I'm just a little amateur...

I have a pair of ankle boots with a very high (but thankfully flat) heel. Today, I wore them for the first time in a long while and immediately thought, 'OMG, how did I ever manage this?' It took ten minutes but I did eventually get back into the swing of it. Oddly, though, my trousers seemed to have been hemmed to the right length for these super heels. When I wear the trousers with other shoes, the hems must drag along the floor. I've never noticed.
