Oh this picture makes me homesick. In my old neighborhood in Glendale, there were rows upon rows of Jacarandas lining the streets. Beautiful to look at but it isn't a good idea to park your car under them - messy-:) Thanks for the beautiful pic.

I have one of these lovely and messy things in front of my home...

There's a little squirrel who lives in it and buries it's nuts at the base of it and barks whenever I get too close. un dia se los voy a robar para que aprenda... :)

My favorite. I think that this is the third time that these trees have bloomed this year. The weather has been terribly confusing for them. Hot, cold, hot...

We had a jacaranda in our backyard and when the leaves fell in the fire ring the neighborhood filled with the lovely scent. Thanks for the good memory.

ARLENE - I'm nostalgic too: it reminds me of Kenya, where I spent some years as a child...

GABBI - a squirrel in a jacaranda tree: it sounds like the beginning of some kind of story.

SPANGLER - I had no idea they gave out a nice scent when burnt. I need to try that.

What a beautiful blog! Thank you for visiting me and pulling me to your site! I love your flowers on the side...

I love Jacarandas .. when we lived in Nairobi, Kenya, they were all over. The trees had flowers twice per year, once without leaves and with plenty plenty of flowers, and the other less impressive time fewer flowers with leaves. Francis, our gardener, had told me that when the soil beneath the tree was thickly covered with flowers, the heavy rains were about to start...

Pour moi le mauve est la couleur des souvenirs: merci de me rendre les jacarandas d'Islamabad, de Lahore, et de Tunis. j'aime cette photo, parfois on est terriblement inspiré et c'est parfait... OHH!! quelle joie intime quand l'oeil a VU.
Bonjour à maman.

We had one of those in our yard in Sydney...as messy as they were, I didn't begrudge a single bloom. They are magical.

Do you have a Flickr account? Some of your pictures are so beautiful, and there is a whole community of people who love beautiful images over there. Maybe go and take a look sometime?

MURALIMANOHAR - magical is the word; their color is completely otherworldly I think, like a vision from some kind of heavenly place.

KITTY - thanks for your super kind words... I have been meaning to check out Flickr for months!

Those I planted in my garden refuse to bloom year after year. I resent them and have threatened to replace them with olive tree if they don't shape up.

Roxana said...

i am crazy about these trees and i have only seen then in pictures - btw, yours is great!

Mary-Laure said...

CORINE - well olive trees are beautiful too; their leaves are such a lovely shade of green. They are among my favorite trees, and I'm sure you'll adore them.

So that's what a Jacaranda Tree looks like. I've heard of them, but never seen one. Ever. Pure lovely. WOW!!!
