A couple of days ago, Track 16, an art gallery in Santa Monica, held an unbelievable bazaar, selling all kinds of vintage items at lower than low prices. I chose 4 wine glasses and 4 delicate champagne glasses, $1 apiece - I love champagne! It's the only alcohol I'll have. I also went for a shiny milk jug a and sugar pot.
But my best buy was definitely the large red trunk, made in a bakelite-type material, for a mere $5. I use it as a coffee table.
More about my new Venice abode in the days to come...

Such good taste! I love the glasses, and the trunk, and of course, yes the very 1940 milk jog and sugar pot.
Great stuff, dear.
Hope you'll have a great weekend
xoxo

Wow! What great buys. Love your taste.
GABBI - I was hoping that as a longtime local you could recommend me some place where I might find some other vintage treasures for my home...?
NANCY - when we finally meet, we need to have a glass of champagne together!
DAD
I love the red trunk and your glasses. Have a wonderful week-end!
Oh wow, that bazaar must have been amazing to go to. That red trunk is definitely my favourite!
JL - merci d'avoir partage ce souvenir avec nous!
Wow you got some lovely stuff! I can't wait to get a little house to decorate - you can't really have any fun with student accomodation! :) x
M-L: Splendid! I love them all! What a good eye you have for second-hand items.
Jean-Louis: Je n'ai pas tes 'gènes' mais j'apprécie toujours le vin que tu me sers aimablement!

Swooning over your finds. Especially that yummy red trunk.
Great finds - especially the large red trunk! I found your blog through "Nothing Elegant" - it's terrific!
SAM - thanks for letting me know what blog led you here, and I'm happy to know you enjoyed the visit...
I had actually visited your lovely blog in the past.
i knew about the sale but didn't know prices would be so reasonable! dang it! but congrats on the fab finds and awesome prices. you rarely find that combo at bergamot station!
Love that trunk! My parents have one that's very similar and they also use it as a coffee table.
DROLLGIRL - oh, we could have gone together... It's true that everything is so expensive at Bergamot, usually, that I too was stunned to find such great deals.
Lucky home! I'm especially fond of that there red trunk!

I love flea markets and garage sales, but we rarely have them over here. The majority of the people in this area don't like to buy used stuff, etc.
Super treasures! The red chest is amazing. Enjoy!
FIVE DOLLARS?? Excuse me while I expire from jealousy. That trunk couldn't be more perfect if it tried.
That red trunk is amazing. You have to post more. More I tell you. Right now!
MURALIMANOHAR - yep, that's $5. Five dollars. For real. Almost free, really.
KATIECRACKERNUTS - a new post about my home is in the works!
Thanks for visiting my site.
I haven't read Frame's books before, so I google searched it last night. Her life is like a book itself. I hope they will make a movie out of it.
I like that trunk, I have a story about trunks. The first trunk in my life was my dad's trunk that he brought home from his P & O ship from London to Singapore, and then to Borneo. There were subsequent trunks, and my friends used it for a coffee table.
Cheers,
Ann :)
ANN - actually, Janet Frame's autobiography WAS made into a movie by the great director Jane Campion. You can check it out, it's called "An angel at my table" and it's extraordinary.
Très beau ton coffre!! La couleur que j'aime. Ton blog et magnifique, les photos superbes et celles de fleurs très belles!!
