Painting Mugs With Céline

My sister visited me in Los Angeles for a week. She has the great idea to go to Color Me Mine in Santa Monica, a pottery store/art studio you can pick a blank item and decorate it yourself in their cool and bright space. We made one for each other, and Céline also made one for her boyfriend.
My very creative sis chose to make mine a tribute to the Russian avant-garde - "Kandinsky got nothing on me, Malevich's in the ditch," she rapped as I giggled. When we were in our teens, my mum took us to Nantes to visit the very first major international Russian avant-garde exhibition and were all in awe.Paints and brushes! It was like being in kindergarden all over again...

Oh, and we had our favorite breakfast: pancakes! Buckwheat with blueberries and maple syrup for me, buttermilk with whipped cream for Céline.

When I come I see I'll have a mug for my morning coffee! And we'll make pancakes for you.

REBECCA - not as delicious as my mum's pancakes though.

WORLD IN A PAN - I can't wait to eat your pancakes, and to see you, dear mum.

DROLLGIRL - you can get them at the Broadway Deli, at the corner of Broadway & 3rd street in Santa Monica. Best pancakes in town!

Lovely art and photos dear Mary-Laure, you and your sister sound very much like my sister and me. Only she doesn't really rap, I do that. But not very well. She says 'The problem is, you have no flow' :) Which I don't.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! xo

GABBI - it's great to have a sister to share moments and love with...
"You have n flow" - LOL!!!!

JANE - I don't think it does, especially when you're with someone you love.

I want to see the finished mugs :-).

Mary-Laure said...

ANNIE - well, it takes about 5 days for the mugs to be ready: the glaze needs to set in (48 hours) and they have to send the items to some place outside the city for that. I'm expecting their phone call in a few days to inform me that they're ready for pick-up!
