Benjy At The Window

At the window, tense and with all his sharp senses heightened, what is Benjy staring at?

When it's not the impudent squirrels, the cackling crows or Otis, his nemesis from across the street, or the hapless mail lady, it's little Stewart, one of my neighbors' many cats, and a free-roaming adventurer around the garden... Whether Benjy wants to play with him or lunch on him is not quite clear, so they have not met beyond the window-pane yet...

I love the cat's eyes, a little pirate spying from behind the leaves!

Hahha! I love inter species interactions! Goodness only knows what's going on as you say! One thing's for sure, Benjy is mighty cute!

Benjy is looking so cute. I see that I had missed 2 of your posts, my how time passes....
hope you keep us updated on the benjy and cat's relationship :-)

Give it up, Benjy! Cats are not interested. At all.

(I thought you'd had to cover your window - or maybe Benjy had destroyed the blinds...? Anyway, I vaguely remember there being some sort of issue that involved Benjy and the window - I guess it's been resolved?)

Benjy looks mighty cute, by the way. As always.

I have to remember to come by this blog more--love Benjy, your photos and the way you write.
Stewart is such an excellent name for a cat, BTW. :-)

I think they are teasing one another. He sure is adorable-and I bet a great cuddler.

So cute! My cat, Cleo, thinks she is a guard dog and sits at our window every morning like Benjy!

A great relationship - based on curiosity, keen observation and the safety of that window pane!

Oh I don't know if cats aren't interested...Julie the Cat loves dogs.

Stewart is darling & so is Benjy. If they meet in a cafe for a drink, I'm sure it could all be set right.

SAM - I agree, it's fascinating to see different species interact. Benjy's fascinated by all animals, from squirrels to cats.

SOLANGE - ouch, I hope there will be no sorry updates... Anyhow, that kitten could outrun Benjy anytime.

VINTAGE SIMPLE - I agree, cats never seem to be interested in him. He's met cats in the past and they always gave him a lazy "Oh, give me a break, kid..." look.
And yes, I did cover the main window but not the little one, which I keep open most of the time anyhow.
I don't want to deprive him of ALL entertainment!

MARDI - I'd love to see pics of Cleo on your blog!

GIULIA - you really love dogs, Kitty? I'm sure Benjy would love to meet you!

So cute. If it was my cat, now gone to cat heaven, she wouldn't let Benjy get near her without trying to "beat him up". She was a little fighter that one. I miss her.

Angie Muresan said...

what cuties they both are! maybe they should have a playdate?

Mary-Laure said...

JOYFUL - oh, I'm sure you miss her terribly... Pets are precious little companions...

ANGIE - hmmmm, not sure about that! It may be risky!

Joyful said...

Ya, I really miss her though it's already been a long while since her passing. I haven't tried to get another pet yet.

You have the beginnings of "Benjy at the Window," a full-flown novel.

SPANGLER - what a GREAT idea!

MARIE - he will be hugged for you, dear Marie - a hug for Benjy, fresh from Australia.

Haha! Love this. Benjy is so adorable and that shot of the kitty is great - I laughed outloud at the listing of what he watches through the window - the world of Benjy!

KWANA - yes, I always wonder what goes through animals' minds...

J ELAINE - "Did you know you were a Leonardo?"

BLUE MUSE - he pretty much spends his entire days just staring out the window... His own little theater.

PIPER - ay que tristeza pensar que tu Piper querido se fue........ Es terrible perder un amigito tan divino.

Hi Mary-Laure--and Benjy! I agree that Betty's manicure doesn't match her elegant self (and I think its supposed to be noticeable to call attention to her misery). And yes--I do enjoy the show, but I'll have to finish the season when the DVD comes out (I cancelled our cable TV for the children). I prefer the DVD anyway--no commercials and I can watch two episodes back to back . . .

My dogs can be quite annoying, they bark nonstop when they see a cat! Benjy is all knowing & smart looking...

Mary-Laure said...

MISS CAVENDISH - I don't own a TV so I don't watch MadMen on TV - the commercials would just drive me nuts anyhow, but I do download every episode from iTunes as the season progresses; quite affordable and that way, I don't have to wait.

LENORE... - don't let Benjy fool you! He may look angelic but he will bark, yelp, growl, whine and more when he spots an object of interest out the window.

Rebecca said...

Aww, Benjy's little arms are so short! :) He's adorable. My dog (who still lives with my parents... my "brother" as my mom calls him) loves to watch the neighbor's cat out the window. They have met on occasion (when he's properly restrained) and they like to sniff at each other from afar.

very neat photos of the both the hunter and huntress. xoxo

Mary-Laure said...

JOYCE - the hunter and the huntress? Hmmmm, both Benjy and Stewart are males. And if they were to meet in the garden, I'm not sure who would hunt whom...?

wonderfully done, this little story and the great photos. Benjy should be working out with the Lakers. The Angels, i hear are knocking off the Yankees.

Kiss that benjy for me :-).

Fifi Flowers said...

GREAT photos of both... FUN post!!!

Mary-Laure said...

MANSUETUDE - oh but he is working out with the Lakers! There was, unfortunately, nothing he could do for those poor Dodgers.
Thank God LA does not have a football team, or else he'd just be too busy.
