Meet Guest Blogger Taocito

Perhaps you are already familiar with my witty comments which I sometimes leave on this lovely blog. My name is Tao, aka Taocito, and I am a traveling pooch. I was given to my owner at the tender age of 2 months and ever since it has been quite the adventure. She took me to Ithaca when she was studying for her MBA at Cornell, and then we jetted off to Mexico. While in Singapore she did have to leave me behind but then she took me to Amsterdam where I blissfully resided for two years.
A close friend of Benjy the Oracle, I enjoy chewing on expensive leather shoes, chasing toys around the house, eating fruit and just living it up in any country my owner decides to move to. I am often praised for my thick fur, approachable demeanor and incredible whiteness. I will be dropping a few lines on this blog to share with you the adventures of a traveling dog and the ins and outs of living with a globe trotting owner.
Hope you enjoy my posts!

Ah, Taocito! I am happy to share this blog with you. Less work for me = more time to fetch the ball, dig and nap...

Thank you for all your comments and apologies for taking so long to answer but as you might know, typing with paws is no easy feat.

Sealaura: thank you, I will indeed be posting about my adventures

Marie, Joyful, Donna, Sam: I love being complimented on my looks. I have many facets (lamb-ish, fur-ball, fluffy)

Laura: indeed I love adventure though I really hate the journey locked in a kennel in a cargo.

Benjy: yes indeed, go fetch dig and scare the fedex guy. And thank your owner Mary Laure for posting this glamor shot of me. I look very ethereal (as opposed to my deer in the headlights look)

Hello gorgeous Tao!

I spelled your name incorrectly for how long? Shriek. Why on earth have I been commenting to a "Tacocito"? Hugely embarrassed & must faint onto a sofa. (Benjy is lucky to have such a cousin.)

Yours in humiliation & ciao-mewo,

GG

I mean 'ciao-meow' ....

Oh woe is me.

Dear Taocito,
What a coincidence that you are the star of my last post!
You're indeed a well traveled doggie! Very cute as the bloggers here have said.
But are you grateful?
I would have loved to read in your post that patient "Laura in Paris" fed you and took care of you the first year of your life, flew you to NY (I agree, being in a kenel was no fun) and drove you to Ithaca, and still took care of you during all the time your mistress was in Singapore because of the quarentine ...(I didn't want you to have to put up with that, I'm a sensitive soul)
So, no hard feelings but may I remind you you have made several sojourns in Paris at my very place ...
And may I ask, as your mistress is getting ready to relocate yet again ... whee are you staying?

My question: What does Freud have to say about all of this?

Angie Muresan said...

well aren't you a gorgeous being, besides super intelligent, and a world traveler? Can't wait to hear about your adventures!

Mary-Laure said...

GIULIA - it's ok, I'm sure Tao would like tacos...
He was named Tao, and when he arrived in Mexico, people took to calling him Taocito, adding the affectionate suffix to his name.
Love to Giulia.

LAURA - yes you should have been acknowledged as Tao's alternative custodian.

J ELAINE - do we really want to know?

J Elaine said...

Nah, you're probably right.

Giulia, I happen to like Tacos very much from my time in Mexico though I have to say I like quesadillas even more! Mmmmmh... cheese.

Laura: mea culpa! Indeed you have been wonderful to me! Taking care of me when my owner couldn't. Like right now for instance, I am having the time of my life at your place, chasing my toys in the corridor, being fed royally, and gazing adoringly at your feet as you work. I am very grateful, believe me, especially since you, unlike my owner, like to wake up early for our little walk/ bonding time in the wee hours.

Angie: Indeed I am rather a smart pooch. I have extensive vocabulary in many languages too, as I can recognize the expressions for "going out" in French, English and Spanish. I did not learn it in Dutch though as my handler in Amsterdam was Ukrainian and all she had to do was show the leash for me to jump off the couch.

C'est le plus gentil animal que je connaisse. Aussi je suis toujours partant pour garder, ou qu'il se trouve,ce gentil Tao/cito qui ne mord pas, lui.... contrairement a un autre dont je laisse deviner le nom.

oh so nice to meet you...;))) what a cute pooch indeed and a well travelled one to boot...;))

Hila said...

I seriously want to reach through my computer screen and cuddle - what a face, so adorable!

Mary-Laure said...

TAOCITO! Your handler in Amsterdam is from Slovakia, not Ukraine! For a world traveler, your geography seems sloppy...

HILA - I am sure Taocito would love you to pet him, as he loves being cuddled.

Gabbi said...

Wonderful post dear Taocito, it's great to meet you. Can't wait to read more on your travels! *Besos*

Taocito - Guest blogger said...

Hila I looooove being petted. But beware, once you start you can't just stop mid-petting, I require attention. Should you stop petting me, I will look for your hand and lift it so as to position it on top of my head, ready for some more petting.

Mary Laure: oops. Tis' true, my geography is limited but this is mainly due to the fact that as you know my eyesight is not what it used to be...

Gabbi: oh yes you will read more about my adventures. I suspect my owner is moving again actually...

JL: seriously? I know Benjy personally I would even consider myself a confidant and sometimes playmate, and yes, he sometimes bites but always for good reasons (protecting his owner, protecting his toy, protecting his food)

Hello Taocito - you are a lovely guest blogger! My cat Cleo had her own blog one summer when I was in Paris for 7 weeks. She wrote it to show me what she was up to all day (not much!)

Joyce said...

Tao I do hope you come back. Maybe there can be a dual spot with you and Benjy as guest bloggers. Both of you pups are candy to the eye. xoxo

JOYCE - don't worry, Tao will be back very soon. He has a bunch of posts planned to keep us up to date on upcoming exciting events in his pooch life. Stay tuned!

My, my! I feel so popular!!!
To all of you awaiting behind your screens to hear more about the "roi du fluff" (as I am sometimes referred to by my French fans), rest assured I am hard at work typing my future posts.
Thank you again for such a warm welcome!
