Books and a top hat

I've already shared with you covers from Penguin's Great Love series here and here; this weekend I couldn't resist 3 volumes from the collection - two of which I read even before getting back to Paris: Nin's luscious Eros Unbound and exquisite stories by Katherine Mansfield.

By now, you all probably know how much I love hats; I've been wanting to buy a classic top hat for a long time. So I did! I found it in a tiny and densely stocked vintage store.

I wore it on the streets of London with jeans, a graphic black and white tee and high heels. It sheltered me from spring's whimsical showers and made me feel cool. After all, eccentricity is a classical way of life in the UK, and one that I'm happy to embrace!
Back in conservative, conventional Paris, I'm not so sure about my top hat's stylishness anymore...

Oh how fun! Wear your hat, I say!

this very British hat is beautiful but isn't it for men? I guess Paris could be more conservative than London for an ordinary day. There may still be some special occasions to wear it. Let'us go from Cabaret to Cabaret!

Ive read one of those book series some time ago (bonjour tristess) and havent read the ones you read yet. I also like the covers of them. (thats also why I've read the one by sagan;)
I never look good with hats although I love them too. and you do look very eccentric, very english in that hat!

i love this hat. wear it with pride and smiles. i'll bet you got alot of smiles while you wore it. and you are perhaps the very first person ever to call the spring showers in london 'whimsical'...that was definatly the hat talking!

interesting to think of you reading Nin under such a rich thick hat... and or then to have to change even your outward style for a culture/place shift. The outside world is often playing on, with our inward sensibilities. Love this.
