I had to buy clothes - really

My laundry was "taken" from the laundry room of the place where I live, two weeks ago. It included both my hoodies, ancient t-shirts that brought back many memories (oh, my 10-year-old Middlebury tee!), as well as a few truly wonderful pieces, like a Helmut Lang top and more. Sigh.
So I really had to buy some clothes. At Urban Outfitters, I got a very light painter's tee I just love - I also fell for their Joy Division t-shirts, but $38?! Of course I headed for American Apparel where I got two XL hoodies, one cranberry and one black, a few plain black tees (I like getting guys' v-necks in Small), as well as a this cute gray little romper I wear to ballet class over my leotard.

Punkie,
I have the same cute gray little romper .
Isn't it super sexy ?
I wear it not like you in dance classes but relaxing at home.
Are you missing your parisian friends a little?
Happy to see that everything is going well.
I saw the cool red car you've bought-perfect.
Hope to visit you soon

CHLOE - oh I do miss you very much Punky and hope you will visit me soon... There was a Siouxie t-shirt at Urban Outfitters that made me think of you. Very Punky.
I'm not surprised we chose the SAME item at American Apparel...

KARINA - Ha ha ha, your comment about the fashion police made me laugh!
You're right, new clothes for a new life, I hadn't thought of that.

I'm sorry for your clothes but sometimes they got a life of their own and Karina is right, new life, new clothes. I love the first tee, it looks very nice.

Well, you know the drill: wait 2 years & start watching the trash cans...

American Apparel has great basics, hmmm is Helmut Lang still around...

Hmm... strange and intriguing comment from anonymous.

I particularly like the romper. I'll bet it looks great with your leotard!

For my basics, I usually buy packets of 100% cotton t-shirts in little boy sections of department stores. Inexpensive, somewhat threadbare, and a surprisingly good fit.

oh how horrible that someone took your clothing! don't like when someone takes away someone's memories...oh well...everything for a good reason...and you seemed to be quite delighted with your new purchases so....

Ahhh-Joy Division. Love will tear us apart, and all that wonderfully gloomy dance beat to boot!

RINA - es lo que decimos todas, no?

D. MOLL - never out without a hoodie; I even sleep in mine.

LENORENEVERMORE - I think Helmut Lang is still around in a new incarnation of some kind, after some time in a limbo. Don't quote me on that; we should ask Chloe.

JEN - yes, the comment from Anonymous is actually a private joke with Charlotte - I'll explain, you'll laugh.

MISS CAVENDISH - yes!!!! The t-shirt featured the Love Will Tear Us Apart title... Such a great song.

LITTLEBIRD - thanks about the car...

PLEASE SIR - you comment really cracked me up because you wrote "it stinks" when talking about my stolen LAUNDRY, you know... It was stolen from the dryer, so not only was it stolen, but it was clean and nice-smelling rather than stinky...

That is pathetic (not your new clothes - those are uber cool) - someone STOLE your laundry!!!!!What is that? Oh well, I guess it is a good excuse to buy new clothes. But honestly, someone stole your laundry...that is just sad.

How annoying that someone stole your clothes! But a good excuse to buy some more. I like your choices Mary-Laure - I wish we had Urban Outfitters in Australia.

i need to go shopping.

perhaps i should try that? & see if it works ;]

RAINING SHEEP - and the crazy part is that I live in a gated community where people are really REALLY not anywhere near needy... I'm keeping my eyes open in case I see someone wearing my stuff.

HILA - sometimes it's good that some stores are not present the world over, don't you think? It leaves more space for local brands, designers, and retailers.

LACOUTURIERNYC - head for the stores, 'tis the season...

Oh, I'm sorry...so hard to lose things that we have sentimental attachments to. But, you got some new clothes out of it to make more memories in!
