Oh, wow! These are fabulous shots! Magical colors.

Wow! Your starfish shot should be in a "How Many Starfish Are There?" contest.

Where did you manage to find so many starfish in one place? Or did they slowly find you?

Rusty and I are impressed.

As for Benjy, I should have known that he could fly in addition to playing a mean game of soccer!

Te deseo un muy feliz año, muchos cariños desde buenos aires

To marvelous. Happy New Year!!!

CANDACE - the tide was very low and there were clusters of starfish all over the rocks.
With ears like Benjy's of course he can fly. They are his wings.
But unlike your Tess, he really isn't part fish, and says comfortably away from the waves...

RINA - gracias! A ti tambien te mando un abrazo par el año 2009...

Beautiful shots of the Pacific Ocean low tide. It reminds me of Bar Harbor, when the sea retreated and we went to get mussles for lunch, or the beaches of Mombassa with the many treasures caught in teh sand in the rush of the low tide. And of course, I love the shot of Little-Benjy enjoying as none coud have suspected his new life by the seashore.

I'll be looking forward to Benjy's post!

Its SO nice to see the mussels, very New England coastline... and Benjy, yes, he has already given those Lakers an unfair advantage...they should change their names to the Oracles.

Happy (naughty but nice) New Year to you and Benjy.

Well, this answers my question as to what Benjy would do when a wave came in. Love ya' S

LOVE these pictures! Especially of Benjy, he is definitely enjoying the beach. Norman is also not a fan of the water. Can't wait to read what Benjy has to say on Jan 1. ¡Feliz año nuevo!

I still can't get over the shot that you took of the starfish. I don't think that I've ever seen quite that many in one place while tidepooling at Paradise Cove. Maybe I've just been too busy taking pictures of Tess.

M-L, quite seriously, you might consider submitting your starfish photo to National Geographic's Your Shot for possible publication in either their magazine or as a possible candidate for their online Daily Dozen.

I'm already looking forward to seeing you again!

Oh, yes... and you, too, Sir Oracle!

I love your photographs. It reminds me of summer on the little island where I live......but now it's winter...and really cold. Happy new years to you....and I love your blog.

Mary-Laure said...

MANSUETUDE - yes, thanks to Benjy's input the Lakers are having a great season...
I like your idea to rename them The Oracles as a tribute to my pooch.

SEALAURA - it's funny how some dogs can't wait to get into the water while others shy away from it.
Feliz año nuevo a ti tambien!

CANDACE - oh, I think you're really over-rating my pictures...
Benjy and I are looking forward to seeing you and dear Tess.

SOLVI - I'd love to hear more about the island where you live. I hope there are pictures of it on your blog, which I'm going to check out ASAP...

Benji is adorable and your photographs are beautiful....

But here's what I really want to know: Sir Benji, the ever powerful oracle, do you think George and I will have a good year in 2010?? :)

Gabbi said...

Just realized, did I ask too soon? :) Was I supposed to wait till the 1st?

What gorgeous photos! Those starfish are magic! I love your earlier post too about Vanity Fair! I'm a Vanity Fair addict!! I can't get enough of that racy mag full of scandal, Hollywood gossip, fashion and mogul news!!

M-L: CANDACE - oh, I think you're really over-rating my pictures...

I'll agree to leave that determination to your blog readers. I will point out, however, that it's not just the picture; it's also the subject matter, the composition, the lighting and, and....

Regardless of what National Geographic thinks or does not think, your starfish picture made the top of my personal daily dozen list for that particular day, and perhaps even for this particular month.

So, please don't be surprised when I ask you for a signed, limited edition print of the starfish photo from this post that I can hang on my wall and enjoy along with the rest of my ocean-themed photos.

Sam summed your photo up correctly: "Those starfish are magic!"

GABBI - Benjy will get back to you on Jan 1st... Questions can be submitted any time.

SAM - Truth be told, I never bought VF in my life. Maybe I'll give it a try.

CANDACE - you're just really too sweet and kind, as always!

JEN - I'm glad you like that pic of Benjy. I'm sure he'd like to fly to you, "Doll"... We miss you tons!!!

ok! :) could you please tell him i meant 2009 not 2010? i keep doing that (such a dork)... mostly because of work, we work so much ahead of time at the courts that i forget what month and year i'm in (so sad).

have a happy happy new year...xxoo
