SLS Hotel with Adrienne

My dear friend Adrienne, who works for Culture & Commerce, was in town for the opening of the SLS Hotel (465 La Cienaga blvd.), designed by Monsieur Philippe Starck, so I was treated to a private tour of some of the place's highlights. Starck went for a rich and dark baroque decor, with an emphasis on black and all kinds of silver hues, from glassy glitter to huge mirrors. The beauty of the details is just dazzling. The top picture was snapped in, er, the restrooms...
A stunning boutique displays crazy eye-candy items by fabulous designers, such as this tongue-in-cheek plate and this humongous faux-macaron candle.
Philippe, on t'aime! (We love you)

What l gorgeous loo, so glad you decided to photograph it :) I rarely visit Beverly Hills but it truly is a beautifully decadent place isn't it?

GABBI - Decadent is the word indeed... Maybe we can meet up at the hotel bar some time, treat ourselves to a glass of champagne in the first days of January to celebrate the new year...?

Tout le monde aime Philippe !
This is a glorious place...i'm sure you loved it...
You know what's funny, the first time, i went to the Bon restaurant in Paris, designed by Starck, i took a picture in the loo and the mirrors were quite similar to this.

Did you have a lot of macarons ?
:-)

i mean...real ones !

I missed reading your blog for a few weeks and suddenly we are neighbors? I'd love to come along for that glass of champagne, and macarons real or fake.

Enough with the "fabulously decadent/love-Stark/Loo vs Restroom" yadda yadda. The only possible comment to the first picture is "Dude, are you wearing PLEATHER PANTS???"

Mary-Laure said...

ANONYMOUS - Charlotte, is that you, naughty girl? I see you are still and ever more a Geyser of Hatred, ha ha ha...
No, these are certainly NOT pleather pants. They are denim, like any regular pair of jeans (cotton, basically), only with silver thread woven into it. They're by April 77.
See them better here:

And dude, DON'T call me dude.

That bathroom is stunning!

ETSI - I so am having fun...

GEYSER - "tondu": a sly reference to the sad plight of Taolechien?

GRACIA - yes, it's really ALL about the details.

OOPS - the SLS hotel is located at 465 South La Cienega Boulevard ... not at 465 Centinela, which is an avenue and located in Inglewood ...

AKA CARLOTTA: tu me fais bien rire car deja a Pekin tu t'etonnais de ma calvitie precoce...alors aujourd'hui, tondu, avec ce qui me reste, c'est tres rigolo!!

Cool photos! Another great restroom to check out is in the Viceroy hotel (Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica), in case you're in the mood for more restroom-viewing. hehe

Also, could you email me your mailing address? I won't stalk you, I promise! ;-)
