A Loire Valley Wedding

It was a French-Iranian-German wedding in a small Mairie (City Hall) on the banks of the Loire river this Saturday. As everyone couldn't fit in the Mairie, the couple came to the window to exchange their wedding rings in front of the crowd of relatives and friends... So romantic! After leaving the Mairie, and being showered with rose petals thrown by the many children, they went for a spin in an old Citroen car, then joined everyone for a cocktail in the divine gardens of an aunt's house, with its ancient stone tower. The beautiful bride, with rose petals in her hair and the smile of happiness on her face, wore white satin Christian Louboutin shoes! To add some color to my otherwise demure outfit (Nina Ricci jacket, black Joseph skirt and vintage veiled hat) I chose NARS's pink lipstick Schiap - a little punk spirit here.
Best wishes to my dear, dear friends!

Sigh! It looks so wonderful...I agree that the lipstick is perfect with the jacket you are wearing. So romantic to be married on the bank of a river...it all sounds so 'French' :)

How beautiful. I wish I had been a little fly on the wall watching the proceedings.

i love that car color. And the tower I really love--made me think of Vita Sackville West (and Virginia Woolf)for a second. :)

Lovely veil.

JENNIFER - I have plenty more...

LITTLE BIRD - thank you for your wishes, I'll pass them on.

MANSUETUDE - yes, everything was straight out of a novel! I love it when things make me think of great literature - as do you, I think...

Ha! Hmmm... after your mentioning earlier of Anna Karenina, your comment back to me makes me think there is an (irony) and slight warning (about reading books and searching for dreams) but I will smile for the reminder. :)

CHLOE - the town is Le Thoureil (rive gauche de la Loire) 10km from Saumur.

YASU - the Loire Valley is really worth seeing, it's so pretty. You should go for a weekend while you're in Paris.

MANSUETUDE - I will smile too!

MERRULI - oh don't say that! What matters is the joy of everyone on a day like that, nothing more!

The aunt's tower is wonderful... beatutiful setting... everything sounds wonderful... and the pink lipstick so FUN and with a hat too!

BTW... are you telling me that you have never been to Switzerland?

Looks like an amazing wedding!

Mary-Laure said...

FIFI - I have been t Switzerland but only to Geneva and Lausanne, not very exciting cities... Geneva is all banks and super posh hotels, really, though the lake is beautiful.
I always forget to tell you how wonderful your peonies look in my mum's room (you know, she bought one of your pieces). We both love it! And peonies are my favorite flowers.
