Style Tag

Gabbi tagged me!

Describe your style
Very sleek and casual, with a quirky detail (ideally punk/Victorian, like my memento mori cuff links)
What are the staples in your wardrobe?
Black American Apparel tees and hoodies, slim April 77 jeans (picture below), Dr Scholls, hats, stripes, black and white cashmere cardigans (2nd pic below), my Yamamoto dress that can be dressed way up or way down, white shirts I buy in London
What's your signature look?
Denim micro-skirt, Dr Scholl slides, a white shirt
What inspires you?
Trying to be myself
Who is your fashion muse?
Audrey Hepburn, 1920's flappers
Favorite purchase of all time?
The Lucien Pellat-Finet cashmere shawl my mum bought for me
Biggest splurge?
Hmmmm... Possibly my (used) Yohji Yamamoto black apron dress
What's your beauty routine?
I wash my face with Cetaphil, use Anthélios SPF 50 sunscreen every day and am still looking for the perfect moisturizer for my dry body. Any recommendations?
What jewelry do you never take off?
The De Beers diamond ring my parents, my sister and my grandma gave me for my 30th birthday.
What are you wishing for?
A huge gray sweatshirt, Atypik's Be Tough tee, this double chain ring, and more
What are your obsessions?
Leotards and warm-up gear for my ballet classes

A mí , como a Piper, me ha chocado que mis zapatos se parezcan tanto a los tuyos! y hace años que no salgo a la calle sin la Anthélios , por la cara y por todo el cuerpo.
Un saludo!

Oh ... I loved reading this. I love a sneak peek into someone's closet.

I am lodging that double chain ring firmly on my wish list. So, so lovely. And I love that you wear Dr. Scholls, too!

JOYCE - I find that one's a lot more self-confident when one feels comfortable.

PIPER - me gustaria ver tus zapatos en tu blog! Un beso para los gatitos...

MY CASTLE IN SPAIN - yes, it's a small Penhaligon silver flask on a chain, to carry your perfume around like jewelry. My perfume is Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet. What's yours?

IT'S JUST ME - serendipity!
I'll check out your style post, let me know when it's posted!

CHRISTINA - if you love this tag, you're more than welcome to play along!!

EMMA - ah yes, they're a classic.
But Benjy gnawed on the laces so I need to get new laces. Maybe brightly colored ones?

MARCI - lei en el Vogue americano, y tambien me han dicho dermatologos, que la Anthelios es la mejor crema para el sol.

STEPHANIE - my mum, my sister and I all wear Scholls. My mum was inspired by her super stylish aunt, Raquel, who wore them back in the days (in the 60's?).
Do you wear Scholls too?

PAL SHAZAR - well, I'm really an amateur and not good AT all.

Beautiful photos!
compared to my crappy cell phone photos lol
Your style sounds so comfy and relaxed, I like it.

Glad you liked my red skirt, I love it so much, I sometimes wear it for dancing, I love how it swings with the way I move :)

Strangely I don't have many nice pictures of myself dancing lol But if I find few good ones, I'll probably post them here...someday...

Very interesting! I love your rings!

Love that you are so laid back yet classic in your dress and your attitude. I would love to know about your white shirts-always looking for that perfect one.
What lovely rings and so dear.

Mary-Laure said...

CHLOE - I just love my Bompard sweater! It's eternal.
I miss you.

MICHICKO - well, my cell phone doesn't have a camera. I use a very good Lumix camera with a Leica lens.
I totally see what you mean about the skirt swinging, it's very graceful, very Ginger Rogers...

DEBRA - actually, I was thinking of posting about my white shirts!! I'll do it some time soon.

I love your style :)
Sorry I haven't visited in a while and thanks for the Maira post!
Also, I recommend Ahava creams if you have dry skin - my grandmother and mother swear by it as they have dry skin. It's skincare made out of Dead Sea products. I haven't tried it myself as I rarely use any moisturisers - luckily, I inherited my dad's skin. But give it a try - my grandmother rarely endorses any beauty product so heartily.

Mary-Laure said...

NANCY - thanks for the olive oil tip; doesn't it stain your clothes though???
I left my Yamamoto dress in Paris but next time I'm there I'll snap a pic for you.

HILA - I'll definitely give those creams a try if I can find them! I hope they're available in the US.

Hila said...

I'm not sure where you would buy them in the US, but they have a US online store:

Also, this is the cream my mother uses:

HILA - thanks for the links, you're so thoughtful!

ASHERETTE - I always feel we're exactly on the same wavelength...

Audrey Hepburn, YEEEES. when I was in Japan I discovered that she was adored by everybody as a national goddess or something. and rightly so!

Re: olive oil...actually thus far it hasn't stained any clothing. I first got the idea when I read an article from Carolina Herrera's daughter saying that she mixed olive oil with Nivea cream...
and yessssss I would love to see the dress...

Your jewelry is gorgeous and the best part is it's sentiment value.
