What You Get For $3

I love going to yard sales and on weekends I always visit a couple in Venice or Santa Monica on my way to my ballet class. Home-made brownies or cookies are also often for sale, and I never even attempt to resist them.
Buying second-hand clothes is not only cheap, it is also a good way of, well, recycling...
This Sunday my yard sale foraging was very successful, albeit brownie-less. Here's what I got for a mere $3: a Levi's plaid shirt (the tag reads: 99% cotton, 1% metal), a cream silk Banana Republic top with exquisite details such as those discreet pleats, an a very soft long sleeved black Roam tee.

Wow, you did great. Beautiful finds. Watch out for the 1% metal. So funny.

Great finds! Yard sales rule! The one percent metal is interesting. I have recently seen paper in the composition of clothing, most notably in Dries Van Noten. What do you make of that? Recycling?

You are really good at this!
After your last post about a sale I went online and found the James Perse jacket I have wanted for so long for 50% off. I wore it today! :)

KWANA and J ELAINE - actually, the shirt has tiny, very thin metal stripes that didn't appear on the pic...

NIKELLA - congrats on your James Perse find! Do post a picture on your blog, as I'd love to see it.

CLARE - and I love Sesame Street.

That's the advantage of having your exquisite taste.

Looks like we've had a similar Sunday!
I went to an outdoor market and got myself very cute ankle-boots, an amazing World War II military hat and an anemone brooch, all vintage.
It didn't cost 3$ though :)

BILLIE - I'd love to see your finds, they sound fab, especially that old military hat...

Something we just don't have in the UK, yard sales. But the summer brings carboot sales, which are nearly as good. Love your finds. 'Specially the silk blouse - gorgeous.

Great weekend finds with or without brownies. Upon second thoughts, with brownies is always best.

GRACIA - yes, between a life without brownies and a life with brownies, I'll go for a life with brownies. Everything is better with brownies.
