Bombachas de Campo
Some time ago, in her blog El Beso, an Argentine treasure, Karina featured bombachas de campo, the pants worn, typically with boots, by the equestrian gauchos of Argentina and Uruguay. I loved their style, and asked my mom to bring me back a pair from her trip to Uruguay this month.
They're easier to wear than jodhpurs (while similar to jodhpurs in that they have this baggy-around-the-thighs cut), but also hint at a love of horses, and most importantly, as I walk around Paris, they make me think of Uruguay's beautiful campo, its open spaces...
I love the idea of taking a traditional item of clothing and wearing it my own way. How would you wear them?

You need a strong personality and a (very) personal style to walk around Paris with bombachas de campo, but I know you do have both!
oh they seem great! i would wear them with some nice open sandales (if you ask me.. ;)
nancy
Jaja, no lo puedo creer, con bombachas por Paris!!!!
Te quedan divinas!
Those trousers are very cool. I like the way they close at the bottom.
Beautiful photos. I'm particularly fond of the cropping.
Me encanta que andes por París con las bombachas! Yo las usaba un tiempo pero hace mucho que no tengo unas...las extraño...eran cómodas.
ooh i like these!
i brought back some traditional pants from india when i visited 2 years ago..
i like to layer things like these, under a skirt or dress
Nice blog including beautiful pictures.
Donde las compro tu madre?
I couldn't resist a high heel only because they have a 'cargo' feel to them and I'd be channeling Kylie circa 'love at first sight'.
I need to dig around coz I think I've found my new pant!
KARINA - si es increible y es gracias a ti!
ANONYMOUS - mi mama las compro en une tienda en Montevideo, son de la marca argentina PAMPERO
IMELDA - you can buy them online actually, at
http://www.gauchoclothes.com/bombacha.html
They look great!
i think i would wear them with fabulous shoes but i could say that of any trousers, dress, skirt etc!!!
i like the cuff detail at the bottom : )
Eeek--- I love the pants! :)
LITTLE BIRD - I love the cuff detail too, it's really what makes these pants so special. A friend giggled at them and said it looked like someone was wearing a shirt sleeve instead of pants!
It's lovely that you collect not only clothes for the sake of fashion but that also have a more profound meaning for you...
Oh and I love all kinds of equestrian wear too...
The only missing part is the "asadito", isn't it?
They look fantastic on you!
I love the idea of "borrowing" an item from another culture and wearing it your own way.
