Is Benjy Vogue-worthy?

Benjy and I finally got our eager little paws on Dogs In Vogue, a superb collection of photographs and illustrations published over the decades in Vogue magazine, and featuring pooches of all kinds. Dogs, dogs, dogs everywhere! Dogs in the arms of their famous owners, like Moujik with Yves Saint-Laurent, and dogs as characters in fashion spreads.

And what about Benjy of the black almond eyes, the floppy velvet ears and the slender body, Benjy the dachshund jetting between chic Paris and trendy Los Angeles? Is he Vogue-worthy?

Aww cute doggy.

I reckon he is vogue worthy!

Hila said...

of course he is! Silly question :)

YES HE IS! He is the cutest!!

Was there any doubt? So very Vogue-worthy. Of course along with Lucca and Miss Pickle. A smashing threesome for sure. As I write Pickle is sound asleep, pirched upon a warm cherry-stone pillow...

Oh, YESSS, enjy has so much class! Perfect for Vogue!

Oh well, there's no question about it, Benjy deserves a whole book. But now Giulia is wondering, even though she loves dogs, just where is the Cats in Vogue book? (Grace Coddington's cute book is not the same.) I explained that this is not a contest with Benjy but she's now turned her back to me. Oh, she's just asleep in a sunbeam. That takes me off the hook for a while from townhouse construction. What, you say? A delivery just arrived from friends. A cardboard "cat brownstone" that is not hideous (& can be easily hidden when company is over). I casually said a few months ago that I could live with such a thing. It just arrived with with a note for "la belle Julie".

This is what is wonderful about
Benjy (among other things): he doesn't want a brownstone (cardboard or otherwise). I assume.

Ciao

Benjy is beautiful!

HILA - LOL - maybe it was a rhetorical question...

DEBRA - oh, I'd love to see dark Pickle, asleep on a cherry-stone pillow... Also, I don't think I've ever seen Lucca on your blog - do share some pics soon!

GIULIA - very interesting comment; do you think we may have a case of blatant anti-feline discrimination? Is a class-action lawsuit looming? Cats vs. Vogue?
Regarding the brownstone - I absolutely NEED to see it. Please please do feature it on your blog, miss Segnorina Giulia looking down wistfully from the window like an Edith Wharton heroine.
Benjy does not care about townhouses - you know him so well! All he wants now is a soccer field.

Oh he sure is!

Benjy needs to be photographed with his Vogue-worthy mistress to really know! (I have a new camera we might use when you return to LA).

sealaura said...

i think so! he is very chic. I bet the sartorialist would also be interested in feautring Benjy's look.

Mary-Laure said...

SPANGLER - oh you're too sweet. I don't like being photographed (though I do have some modeling experience), maybe that's why I love taking pics - that way, I can stay hidden behind the camera.
Eager to hear more about your new camera! A present from your adorable husband, I presume.

SEALAURA - ah yes, it's true, Benjy does wear the most perfect uniform ever...

Benji you are most certainly Vogue worthy - you are Mr. Vogue if ever there was!!

I actually had a read of this gorgoeus gorgeous book the other day in the book store - it is utterly desirable - good on you for buying it!! Some of the photos are sublime!!

Why would such a question ever arise? Of course he is!!

SAM - I'm glad you got to leaf through that gorgeous books. So many of the pictures are exceptional! And I also love the illustrations from the 20's and 30's - very stylish and so witty, for many of them.

PRIMOEZA - I grew up with dachshunds too because my grandfather always had some, so I know what you mean. BIG personalities. And very stubborn. Sigh.

Benjy, you are Vogue worthy no doubt. Me and my friends at Poodle Daily, Bichon Land, Fluff Galore and other celebrated four legged geared publications, all agree. Your grace, elegance, poise make you a shoe in for the cover. Some call Anna Wintour!

Sammi said...

I think Benjy is vogue worthy with his jet set lifestyle!

Miss Cavendish said...

He looks particularly velvety in those photos!

Mary-Laure said...

TAOCITO - could you sign me up for a subscription to Poodle Daily, Bichon Land and Fluff Galore?

SAMMI - Benjy, the socialite...

MISS CAVENDISH - ah yes, he is velvety and silky. Someone patent his fur, quick!
His coat is so shiny and soft that I often joke I'm going to start using the same shampoo as him.

Rebecca said...

I think he is! :) He looks so soft, and I love his little paws!

Merruli said...

Oh yes, definitely he is!

Last weekend we had a dachshund here for a visit. Every day since my kids have been asking, when we are getting a dog like that.

Mary-Laure said...

MERRULI - LOL, your kids sound like me when I was a child... all I wanted was a dog and how I pestered my parents, with my sister!
Dachshunds are very special. A lot of personality, and a lot of energy.
