Happy Colors

At my mechanic's, a giant Winnie The Pooh tests drives a red car.

I've had the same iPod mini for almost 5 years - I just can't let it go because 1) it works fine and 2) it was a present from someone precious. But when I see those new candy-like Nanos...

Pretty cards that landed in my mailbox; even better when they come in an envelope adorned with cool stamps.

On Main Street in Santa Monica, a gate and a building get a fresh coat of paint.

I love all these colors, they bring some light to the Parisian grayness of Fall.

LAURA and JOYCE - yes, that's the LA effect!

All of these are wonderful but I particularly fancy that red/orange/terracotta wall & the turquoise gate. Really like that...this morning I saw a post with red & white curtains in a rather turquoise-y (sorry, at loss for adjectives today) kitchen. Very cheerful, not at all weird (as it might sound).

Oops. Major wind/rains here. Hope LA is cooler today than earlier this week. ciao-meow from Giulia (who is snoozing in rainy day deep sleep)

Oh yes! I'm a big fan of stamps too! I got a parcel from England the other day and the stamps were almost as good as the present! Thise mini ipods do look rather wonderful lined up like that!!

Giulia Gattina - it's raining here in Paris too and I just hate getting my fur coat and precious paws wet; don't you feel the same?
I miss Los Angeles and my sunny garden!

Dearest Benjy--

I am sorry that you miss Los Angeles but I think that you really miss your maman, no? As for the rain, my maman will not allow me to go outside unless I sit in this big purse with a blanket in it. Even when it's sunny outside.

I can see out through these mesh panels. Sometimes, I stick my tongue out at people. (I'm not supposed to, no, but she does call me "Pippi" sometimes, so...I mean, I'm just trying to live up, or down, to it.)

Many people have tried to persuade maman, on my behalf, to allow me to walk on the sidewalk with my harness & lead (cherry-blossom patterned, very pretty--it proves that redheads can indeed wear pink...but I digress). She says, no no no. She doesn't want my pink paw pads & my white socks to get dirty. Sigh.

All we hear is a lecture about how I got lost & separated from my cat maman & siblings. And how lucky that a nice man found me & all that stuff. Blah blah blah. I sure put up with a lot for my premium pet foods & toys. I know you'll say I'm ungrateful. I'm not. But wow, things are tense here in Washington.

I was thinking of bringing up (again!) that I want to meet Bo Obama. She knows, but I don't see what she's done about it. I think she's even seen his big garden. Harumph. And I'd love to be in Paris. And...--ow

This is Susan. Giulia has been sent to take a nap. Thank you for being so sweet, Benjy. But Giulia will take advantage of any opening to complain. Have a good weekend in Paris!

Mary Laure, I'm glad you liked the book. Yes, the art is to die for. I visited Venice some years ago and unbeknownst to me there was a Sargent exhibition at the Correr Museum. I was thrilled and had a chance to stand in front of his 'Interior in Venice' which I had just spent weeks writing about in my thesis.

Both my kids love orange! And, somehow, throughout my married life I've had a room painted orange.

ANGIE - that sounds great! I used to have a yellow room when I was a teenager...
