Introducing Guest Blogger Benjy
A savvy Parisian with a taste for cheese and cashmere, an accomplished soccer player and a philosopher too (7 pounds of wisdom in the shape of a dachshund), Benjy will occasionally share his musings with us.
You can leave questions for him c/o his amanuensis (Mary-Laure) and, his schedule permitting, he will answer via this blog. His many areas of expertise include etiquette (how's a dog to behave on the train, the subway, the restaurant...), fashion (what to wear in Paris in the winter), relationships (just go ahead and sniff everyone is his motto) and especially pretty girls (he can't get enough of Mary-Laure's lovely girlfriends!), as well as animals' rights (fur-wearers beware).

How to behave on subways and in restaurants... lucky Parisian dog! Our Dorrie will probably never see the inside of either one (although that then makes manners a moot point, luckily for her).
Tell me Benjy, how do you manage to be so divine? I have a pooch who is kind, gentle and lovely but who sometimes lacks in grace whilst walking down the boulevards. could you recommend ways for hil to strut more gracefully?
Thank you
Darling Benjy,
I'm sure from your vantage point, you have a good handle on what type of footwear women wear around Paris. In New York, I am amazed that ladies dash all around town in high heels that I'm sure I could never walk, let alone run, in with out twisting my ankle. I'm sick of bringing an extra bag with my "nice" shoes so that I can change out of my sneakers when I get to where I'm going. It's hard to feel elegant at the ballet when I have to lug around a shopping bag with tennis shoes in it. Do you have any recommendations for a stable and chic walking shoe that could double as a dress shoe? What do the stylish/sensible Parisians do?
You and Mary Laure MUST come visit me in NYC one of these days. You'd be the talk of the town!
Love,
J
Je pense que tu peux recadrer la photo de Benjy sur lui.
Jo, your question makes total sense, and I am happy you seem to understand what you call my "vantage point". I'll get my assistant Mary-Laure to snap a few pictures in the coming days and post some suggestions about how to look chic and still be able to run for the bus... Thanks for your qestion!
next time i am on the metro i will be looking out for you dear benjy, and your fabulous assistant!
mary-laure, thanks so much for your recent comment, I am loving your comments and you & I seem to have alot in common - did you live in different countries as a teenager? mine was spent living in montreal, philadelphia, and a tiny village in italy - i spent my teenage years as an expat. and i value it immensely. I'd so love to hear more about your travels. I mean, Kenya, OMG!!!
adorable!!!
Hey Mary Laure. hought I'd a little Coucou, after I saw your comment on PDP.
You have a wonderful "girly blog" ;)
salut benjy! so what do you wear to stay snug on the chilly parisian streets? i hear you like cashmere, i'd love to see some of your outfits! merci!
This little guy is the cutest "person" ever!!!! What a doll. I can't wait to read his posts. I'm sure he'll have his little paws all over the keyboard writing like mad. Let the creativity begin!
Thank you all for your enthusiasm and your fascinating questions. I will get back toyou soon on this blog, via my assistant!
I absolutely love the posting of The guest blogger. I
am tempted to contact blondie so that she may comment on future benjy entries. By the way, that was the photo that I kept on my screen saver for several weeks. His ears are draped so handsomely!
geez. i wish i had such a distinguished guest blogger as you!
Benjy is super cute :)
Benjy, hello.
Why do you look so sad and profound at the same time? Are you originally from Paris? (I can't believe I'm having this conversation with you!). How do you type?
Hi Benjy,
We noticed that your mom is a vegetarian, so is our dad. He feeds us a raw meat diet though, and has for 7 years now. How can one deal with this paradox? And have you ever met Morrissey?
Sincerely,
Joey and Maggie

Oh I'm so glad I found Benjy this morning! I'm really at a loss, Benjy, as to what I'm supposed to do with my wee dachshund Toph (4 month old girl). She's smitten with my knitting and is able to perform all manner of acrobatics to retrieve it from whatever safe place I'v left it (maybe I should try on top of the fridge) - and then, when I scold her and take it back, she is so very indignant and offended, dancing about me, challenging me, shrieking at me. Do dachshunds like to knit, Benjy, should I be providing her with more knitting opportunities? Or is she just desperate for her own knitted couture? Yours in puzzlement, lily
Hey, Benji, catch a few of my dog's pictures at my blog. Keep yourself cute as usual :D
Does Benji travel with you? I rarely get to travel because my Emmy and Sister would miss me too much. (And vice versa).
